Gonzalo Fernández Castaño is back in action in the PGA Tour this week in the Puerto Rico Open, and it’s not just any tournament for the Spanish golfer. It’s because he’s far behind in the FedEx Cup rankings and, additionally, he doesn’t exactly have a whole lot of opportunities to play due to his category at the start of the PGA Tour tournaments.
Thus, this week could be a definitive turning point in his season. To start, because good results would substantially improve his position as far as getting into upcoming tournaments. The Madrid native is well prepared for the Coco Beach Golf & Country Club event, working really hard with his coach, José Carlos Gutiérrez, who recently relocated to the US for the intensive training.
Gonzalo, very satisfied with the work put in alongside his trainer, is going to need to draw from a good bout of patience in Puerto Rico. And at the moment, the weather forecast is unpredictable, with the possibility of an electric storm almost every day. The Spanish golfer will play on Thursday starting at 12:30 pm (5:30 pm Spanish time) with Ian Poulter and Freddie Jacobson.
