Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-3) shot a 69 in the second round of the Career Builder Challenge. The Madrid native played on the La Quinta Golf course with a total of five birdies and two bogeys. An incredible response that allowed him to provisionally place within the tournament cut.
Keep in mind that the cut will take place today after the third round, because it’s an unusual tournament played in the Pro-am format on three different golf courses in California. Gonzalo will play this Saturday on the Nicklaus Tournament course, where very low results were made yesterday. A good opportunity to continue to climb up in the rankings.
Gonzalo improved his performance off the tee compared to yesterday, but he still needs to work on precision with the irons. In any event, if he manages to avoid major slip-ups, he’ll shoot a very low score, because he’s been landing many birdies throughout the start of 2017.
This Saturday he’ll play starting at 7:10 pm (Spanish time).
