Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 73 in the first round of the RSM Classic, PGA Tour tournament held at the Sea Island Resort in Georgia.
Gonzalo started off the tournament on the Plantation course and today he’ll play on the Seaside course with the need for a big comeback. It’s time to buckle down. The Madrid native is four shots from the provisional cut, sitting at -3, and very far from the leader, Canadian golfer Mackenzie Hughes. But the truth is, that both courses have demonstrated that they can be played with few shots and low scores. Yesterday there were none other than 96 rounds under 70 shots.
For operation comeback, Gonzalo will have to adjust his putt. The Spanish golfer had a really tough day on the greens, letting a few clear options for birdie escape out from under his fingertips. It’s true he was on point in his recoveries, but he didn’t manage to land birdies to play under par.
Today is a new day and Gonzalo will play with nothing to lose, time to go all in to attempt to make the cut in the last tournament of the year. He’ll play this Friday at 3:40 pm, Spanish time, once again with Roberto Castro and Chris Stroud.
