Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-11) shot a 66 in the third round of the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Nabisco and left a great opportunity open to recover the PGA Tour card this Sunday. It won't be easy by any means, but the option is there.
Sixth place would open the door to the first division of world golf. He is currently in ninth place, two shots from the objective, after having pulled off a sensational round of golf. Gonzalo made seven birdies and a double bogey. The Madrid native was fantastic around the greens and with the putter. He had to recover on seven different occasions and the outcome was an outstanding six out of seven. He's feeling comfortable on the greens and that is great news for his golf.
Gonzalo is five shots from the leaders, Michael Thompson and Scott Stallings, two players who have the PGA Tour pedigree. The Spanish golfer will play this Sunday at 6:48 pm, Spanish time, with Greg Eason and Alex Prugh. He's close to his goal, and there are still two more tournaments left to play in the Web.com Tour Final Series.
