Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño continues to climb in the Albertsons Boise Open by Kraft Nabisco, second tournament of the Web.com Tour Final Series held this week at the Hillcrest CC in Idaho.
The Spanish golfer shot another 68 this Friday, the same as the first day, and not only did he make the cut with room to spare, but he's also getting close to the top of the tournament. He moved up nine spots since Thursday and is now in 19th place. He's two shots from the top ten and seven from the leader, British golfer Andrew Johnston.
Gonzalo’s game this round was very similar to that of the first one. The difference is that he was able to better recover from difficult situations, however, he was not as good on the putt. He made four birdies and just one bogey. But all in all, it's another step forward for the Madrid native. Now it's time to solidify his game this weekend. Anything within the top ten will be a giant step in the right direction toward the objective of ending up in the top 25 and thus obtaining the PGA Tour card.
Gonzalo will play in the third round this Saturday at 5:42 pm, Spanish time. He'll play with Bobby Wyatt and Hiroshi Iwata.
