Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (+1) shot a 73 in the third round of the DAP Championship. Tough day at work with lots of action. He went down in the rankings a bit, but scores are so tight that anything can happen. This third round could just simply be a bump in the road.
Gonzalo fell to 44th place, although he is just four shots from 16th place, a score that would be more than acceptable for the start of the Final Series. That will be the goal for Sunday: attempt to get back on track after having veered off somewhat today.
Gonzalo started the round with four consecutive pars. It was the calm before the storm. The roller coaster ride began after the 14th hole, his fifth of the day. On the following fourteen holes he made a double bogey, five bogeys, four birdies and just four pars. His game from tee to green was similar to that of Thursday’s and Friday’s, but he didn’t manage to recover and to putt as well as he had been.
Gonzalo will play in the last round of the tournament on Sunday at 3:05 pm, Spanish time, with Greg Owen.
