Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-2) missed the cut in the News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot, Web.com tour tournament held on the Fox Den CC course in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Madrid native shot a 73 in the second round, finishing two shots away from the objective, a day heavily burdened by a bad start.
A triple bogey on the 4th hole was like a dead weight in a tournament where birdies were once again the order of the day. Gonzalo fought hard to turn things around, but the putt just wasn’t there when he need it in order to reach the difficult objective.
It’s the second cut Fernández-Castaño has missed in the last twelve tournaments, a good demonstration of the solidity he’s achieved in his game in this final stretch of the season. Now, he’s got just one tournament left to play in the regular season, in Portland, before playing in the Final Series. He still has a chance to get into the top 25, although for that he needs to pull off a perfect week in Portland. That’s the idea and the goal.
