Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will compete in the News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot starting this Thursday, Web.com Tour tournament held on the Fox Den CC course in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Madrid native will play in the morning session, at 2:10 pm, Spanish local time, with American golfers John Rollins and Chase Wright.
The News Sentinel Open is the second-to-last opportunity of the season before the Final Series. It’s the second-to-last shot at finishing the year out among the top 25 in the Web.com Tour ranking in order to be granted the PGA Tour card directly.
Gonzalo has already secured his presence in the Final Series after last Sunday’s eleventh place in Missouri, which means he will go into the tournament knowing that he’s got two more attempts at returning to the PGA Tour. In any case, he’ll try to get there through the fastest route possible in the two tournaments that are left. He needs to finish first to guarantee his spot in the top 25, although a second place would also position him at a great advantage for the last regular tournament of the season, which he’ll play in next week.
Gonzalo will go into the tournament with good vibes from his game from tee to green and convinced that if the putt is there this week, he’ll be battling it out for the top positions.
