Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 67 once again in the second round of the Price Cutter Charity Championship, Web.com Tour tournament held on the Highland Springs course in Missouri. Another fantastic score for the Madrid native which allowed him to reach a splendid provisional fifth place.
Gonzalo is at a total of ten under par, four shots from first place, held by American golfer Brad Elder, and just two shots from second place. An incredible position going into the weekend.
Fernández-Castaño has created an excellent opportunity to turn things around this season, although there is still half of the tournament left to play, a very long way to go, which will not be easy by any means.
The beginning of the round wasn't easy either for Gonzalo. Two bogeys in a row on the 4th and 5th holes put him nearly at par and having lost lots of ground. The good news is that there was a lot of tournament left to play and room to work with to turn things around. Which is exactly what Gonzalo did...
A partial score of five under par between the 7th and 11th holes, with three birdies and an eagle, turned everything around and gave him the push he needed for an extraordinary round. Gonzalo finished off his performance with another birdie on the 18th hole.
The round, however, was suspended due to lack of light, which means the results won't be in until tomorrow to see if he'll maintain fiftth place in the rankings.
