Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 68 in the first round of the Digital Ally Open, Web.com Tour tournament held on the Nicklaus GC course at Lionsgate in Kansas City. A good round of four birdies, three of which were on the first four holes, and just one bogey.
A good start for Gonzalo who was once again very solid from tee to green, having caught nine fairways and thirteen greens. He was also on point in the recoveries, a dignified four out of five. There are few things to criticize about the round, other than the fact that every week the Web.com Tour is a festival of birdies.
Gonzalo’s round was objectively good, but in order to be in the top ten after the first 18 holes, he had to end up at six under par, a near unfathomable score. Be that as it may, the Madrid native made the cut and is three shots away from the top ten, well-placed, but knowing that he'll have to put the pedal to the metal to move up to the top positions. He'll play the second round this Friday at 7:35 pm.
