Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-5) shot a 65 in the first round of the Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae, Web.com Tour tournament held in Hayward, California.
Gonzalo made four birdies, an eagle and a bogey for a total of five below par, which leaves him in eleventh place, just one step away from the top ten and three shots from second place. A good start for the Spanish golfer, fabricated primarily between the 1st and 5th holes (he started on the 10th). On that stretch he made three birdies in a row and an eagle.
A good start for Gonzalo in an epic day of the Web.com Tour, due to the fact that German golfer Stephan Jaeger shot a 58, the lowest round in the history of the silver division of American professional golf. Evidently, Jaeger is in the lead with -12.
Gonzalo will play this Friday in the second round of the tournament starting at 7:44 am, local time, 4:44 pm Spanish time.
