Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will play in the Ellie Mae Classic at Stonebrae this Thursday, the first of the last five tournaments of the Web.com Tour season. Thus, the final sprint to the finish line begins with the objective of accumulating the sufficient amount of dollars to finish the season among the top 25, those who will earn back the PGA Tour card.
It’s not an easy goal, but it’s far from being impossible. Gonzalo needs to have four good days of play to make it to the top, the only thing that has been missing from this last leg of the season.
Gonzalo will arrive to the tournament, held at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, in Northern California, after a week’s break in which he took full advantage to recharge his batteries with the objective of taking on the final sprint of the season toward the finish line at full speed.
Gonzalo is currently in 83º place in the Web.com Tour rankings, seventy thousand dollars from 25º place. The winner this week will earn just over one hundred thousand dollars.
The Spanish golfer will play at 10:04 pm, Spanish time, with Jason Millard and Todd Baek. There’s a nine hour difference between California and Madrid.
