Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-5) shot a 71 in the third round of the LECOM Health Challenge, Web.com Tour tournament held on the Upper Course, in New York.
Third consecutive round under par for the Madrid native in the tournament and another handful of positions that he’s climbed up on the scoreboard. He’s currently in 47th place, six shots from the top ten and eleven from the leader, Australian golfer Rhein Gibson. He’s far from the top of the charts, although he will go at it fiercely once again today in attempts to finish as high up as possible and to continue to move forward in his quest for the top 25 in the Web.com Tour.
Gonzalo, who has accumulated a total of six consecutive cuts passed in the Web.com Tour, had some problems yesterday from tee to green, however he was on point in the recovery. He only made one error that cost him a double bogey on the 3rd hole. But he was able to swing three birdies. Today he’ll go out to play in the last round at 3:44 pm, Spanish time, with Adam Long and Ryan Brehm.
