Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (1) shot a 71 in the first round of the Nashville Golf Open, under par, putting him at 48°th place, eight shots from the leader, Wesley Bryan, and just three away from the top ten. Not the start he had hoped for, but not bad nevertheless.
Gonzalo started off with two bogeys on the first four holes, a heavy burden to bear considering he started in the afternoon after many cards under par had been turned in at the club house. It's not the best start to be able to rest easy.
Despite it all, the Spanish golfer was able to maintain his cool, and kept at it until he ended up under par. He made a birdie on the 18th hole (he started on the 10th) and finished off with a sequence of birdie, bogey, birdie and birdie, and is currently in the top 50. Today he’ll play in the morning session, at 2:20 pm, Spanish time.
He needs a round under par in order to move up in the rankings, the main objective to continue in his climb to the top of the Web.com Tour.
