Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño was unable to improve his category through the European Tour School. The golfer from Madrid played in the Final on the Lumine Golf course in Tarragona, but did not manage to make the cut.
Gonzalo turned in four cards with a 71, 77, 66 and 71, and fell just three shots short of the objective. He had it in the bag with a tremendous comeback after a very tough second day, but he couldn’t quite finish the job.
In any event, Gonzalo will remain in the European Tour next year through his ranking in the Race to Dubai. He won’t have a full schedule, and he’ll have to make it work to play where he can, but he has secured the 18th category, which means he’ll have access to 15 to 20 tournaments, sufficient if he does things well to be able to earn the complete rights to play for the following year.
