Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (+3) started the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters off with a 74, which means he must play under par today to make the cut at Valderrama.
It was a round afflicted by two very sporadic errors. He paid a high price for the bad tee shot on the 11th hole, and another on the 7th. He finished with a double bogey on both holes, a tough burden to bear, despite having made three birdies on the 2nd, 13th and 17th holes.
The provisional cut is currently situated at PAR, although all signs point to a minimum of +1 throughout the day today. This would mean that Gonzalo would have no other option than to score below a 70 to make the cut, not an easy task by any means playing in the afternoon, although it’s not unrealistic either.
This Friday, Gonzalo will play at 1:10 pm, CEST.
