“So close and yet so far away”. That’s how Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño defines his current situation after the first round in the El Bosque Mexico Championship. The Spanish golfer shot a 71 and is now in 41º place, just three shots away from the top ten and six from the leader, American golfer Brian Campbell.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will go up against a new battle in the Web.com Tour starting this Thursday. Without even having had time for a breather, the Madrid native left Spain to head to Mexico to play in El Bosque Mexico Championship presented by Innova, tournament held on El Bosque Country Club course, in León, Guanajuato.
Only ten scores under par in the last round of the Valderrama Open de España and Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño was the star of one of those cards. Thus, a difficult week finishes on a good note, with very complicated playing conditions, although great on a personal level, which was the Madrid native’s reencounter with Spain and the European Tour after a long absence.
