Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño made the cut at the Memorial Tournament after signing a solid 70 in the second round held at Miurfield Village.
The Spanish golfer made five birdies and three bogeys for a total of -1, placing him just four shots away from the top ten, a small margin, leaving high hopes for the weekend.
The rankings are close, which allow for the possibility to move up quickly with a few good rounds on Saturday and Sunday, but the most positive prospect is Gonzalo's game. He's made some excellent shots, and he's proven himself today most of all on holes 12 and 8 (he started off on hole 10. On both, a par-3, coming close to the hole on one occasion, both excellent shots with the eight and seven iron.
The Spanish golfer is content with his game at the moment, although he's aware that it's fundamental to correct some of the errors that happened in the past couple rounds. Today, for example, he sent the ball to the water on hole 3, although he pulled through afterwards with a solid par. What's apparent, without a doubt, is that he clearly demonstrates his capacity to fight and pull through in each round, the winning attitude necessary to keep the objective of holding onto the PGA Tour card in sight.
