Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (PAR) shot a 72 in the first round of the Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open, European Tour tournament held in Mauritius, in which he made his debut this week.
The Spanish golfer, who started out on the 10th hole with a birdie to set the tone, was not able, however, to beat the Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius course at Anahita, somewhat inconsistent in his game, with a total of three birdies and three bogeys at the end of the day.
The golfer from Madrid will have to come back strong in the second round, seeing as how he's currently not within the cut line (positioned at -1) and eight shots from the leader, French golfer Perez and Indian golfer Chikkarangappa. That being said, he'll play in the afternoon this time around (this Friday at 9:50 Spanish time; three hours behind Mauritius), which, strangely enough, is when there's been the biggest discrepancy in the best scores: of the twelve golfers who currently hold the top ten spots in the tournament, ten played on Thursday in the afternoon.
